This photograph is part of my High Tauern. The Zone Studies series, developed as a disciplined engagement with the Zone System understood as a way of thinking rather than a technical recipe. Although I have extensive experience in analogue and digital photographic practice, I approached this method deliberately and without haste, aware of the responsibility it imposes on both form and decision-making.
The series was realised within the High Tauern National Park — a landscape deeply familiar to me. This work was made in the Dorfertal, viewed from the vicinity of Moaralm. Instead of seeking reinterpretation, the photograph marks a deliberate entry into a dialogue with tradition, one that demands precision, patience, and full commitment.
The photograph was conceived as a finished object rather than an image file. It is realised exclusively in the 8×10” format and presented only in a solid black oak frame, with a museum-grade mat and museum-grade glass.
