This photograph is part of High Tauern. The Zone Studies, a long-term project in which I engage with the alpine landscape through a disciplined way of thinking derived from the Zone System. Understood not as a technical prescription but as a framework of photographic responsibility and visual ethics, the method marks a conscious confrontation with tradition. The series was realised within the High Tauern National Park, a landscape long known and repeatedly photographed. This particular work depicts the Großglockner, viewed from Figerhorn, and records a moment of readiness — a deliberate entry into dialogue with a method that allows neither shortcuts nor formal compromise.
The photograph was conceived as a finished object rather than an image file. It is realised exclusively in the 8×10” format and presented only in a solid black oak frame, with a museum-grade mat and museum-grade glass.
